Appliances & Other Bulky Items

If the item is still usable check with a local nonprofit organization to see if they will accept the item.  The Floyd-Mitchell Landfill will accept certain appliances. Check with the Landfill for items accepted and for the fee charged.

Some cities provide a spring  and/or fall cleanup day that allow residents to dispose of appliances, furniture, tires etc. Check with your city clerk for information.

Floyd Mitchell Chickasaw County Landfill

Appliances are accepted during our normal business hours without an appointment. There is a $10.00 per appliance  charge. A partial list of what is considered to be an appliance follows:

- Microwaves                            -Dryers
- Stoves                                   - Dehumidifiers (humidifiers are not considered appliances for disposal purposes)
- Refrigerators                         - Freezers

Appliances must be cleaned out - they cannot contain food or any liquids. Doors need not be removed.

** There is a surcharge on demolished and/or burned out appliances as our recycler charges us more for these hard-to-handle items. **
