Mitchell Co. Garbage Disposal & Recycling The Mitchell County Rural Garbage and Recycling site is located 2.5 miles west of Osage on Highway 9. This collection site is for the use of Mitchell County rural residents or rural landowners for garbage disposal and recycling. Town residents may use the collection site for "recycling only". Hours are Wednesday through Saturday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. (closed Mondays).
Individuals and businesses may also haul their own garbage, tires, appliances, televisions, and electronic waste to the Floyd-Mitchell Chickasaw Landfill located southeast of New Haven, or west of Elma.
Recycling items accepted at the site include: Paper Cardboard Newspaper (Flatten boxes) Magazines Junk Mail (including envelopes) Plastic Mixed Paper (i.e. computer, office) #1 through #5, #7 Phone Books (No oil containers) Paper Bags (No plastic bags or lids) Paperback
Books Glass Jars and Bottles only Tin cans Clear, Brown, and Green Pots and Pans Other Clean Metal
Other Items Accepted: General Appliances (call to check the rate charged), Car and Small Truck Tires, Motor Oil and Hydraulic Oil (No larger than 5-gallon containers accepted).
Covered Load Policy All loads entering the facility must be covered with a tarp (unless in the enclosed area of a car, van, or other vehicle). There is a $20 extra charge for uncovered loads. Refusal to pay the $20.00 fee will result in the load being turned away.

Yard Waste Clean yard and garden waste and brush are accepted at the site.
